Curriculum
Your courses in London align with Northeastern’s first-year curriculum and count toward your major requirements and NUpath, Northeastern’s institution-wide general education requirements. You’ll earn a full academic year of credit across courses offered by all eight Northeastern academic colleges.
Note that not every course in Northeastern’s full catalog is available at the London campus.
Course registration opens in the summer and you’ll be contacted to meet with an academic advisor to review and confirm your fall schedule, which will be provided as a timetable (the term used in London for your class schedule) when you arrive on campus.
Transfer credit
If you have or expect Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB), or other transferable credits, report them during the London Scholars registration process and when you meet with your advisor. You may be able to adjust your course selections accordingly.
Place-Based Inquiry Components
As a London Scholar, you’ll be exposed to unique place-based inquiry components, designed to explore global and local issues from comparative perspectives in your courses. These Place-Based Inquiry designated courses are integrated with your major plan of study and with our NUPath requirements, meaning it’s not an “extra course” but part of your degree experience. For London Scholars, they are called Global Inquiry and integrate the course content in the context of London and the UK.

General Requirement for Co-ops
London Scholars can participate in co-op during their time at Northeastern University. All Northeastern students, regardless of signature first-year program, complete Northeastern’s co-op preparation course in their second year. As a London Scholar, you can typically begin your first co-op as early as fall of your third year.
International students
International students must complete one academic year as a matriculated student and obtain authorization from the Office of Global Services before starting a co-op.
Requesting Transcripts
Your London Scholars courses and letter grades appear on your Northeastern transcript and count toward your Northeastern GPA. You earn a full semester of credit in both fall and spring, provided you achieve a grade of D- or better.
