About London Scholars

Program Overview
The Northeastern University London Scholars program offers first-year students a rigorous academic environment and enriching residential experience in one of the most culturally vibrant cities in the world. Northeastern University London’s unique global position will allow you and your peers to amplify your university experience by living, studying, and growing in London during your first year of college. London will be your gateway to Europe; Northeastern will be your gateway to the world.
Students will spend their first year in London before transitioning to Northeastern’s Boston campus for the remainder of their U.S. bachelor’s degree. Students who choose to enter the London Scholars program will take courses that align with Northeastern’s first-year curriculum. In addition to fulfilling major requirements, courses taken at Northeastern University London count toward NUpath, Northeastern’s general education requirement, or electives.
London Scholars is a residential program, and London Scholar students are required to live in university assigned accommodations that are contracted and allocated through the Northeastern University London Housing Team. London has 24/7 professional on-site staff available for day-to-day logistics of the program, connecting students with the Northeastern community, and assisting students in case of illness or emergency. The Residence Life Coordinators will be available to London Scholars from their arrival, introducing them to the ways of living in the location, and will guide our Scholars through the transitional aspects of the program and university. The program staff will host a series of RLCs 1:1’s, community dinners and social events that will aid the London Scholars in understanding how to live responsibly and appropriately.
Northeastern University London is situated in Devon House at St Katharine Docks, a vibrant and dynamic quarter in central London. Located just a short walk from some of the UK’s most recognizable and iconic sites, including the Tower of London and Tower Bridge, St Katharine Docks is steeped in the history of London and the River Thames upon which the city was founded.
History
The London Scholars program was launched in 2023 as part of Northeastern University’s broader commitment to expanding experiential learning across its global network of campuses. As the university grew beyond its Boston roots, it sought new ways to provide students with meaningful, place-based educational experiences from the very start of their college careers.
Launched to take advantage of London’s global influence across industries such as finance, media, technology, and the arts, the program reflects Northeastern’s mission to integrate academic study with real-world engagement. By situating first-year students in London, the program allows them to immediately connect their coursework to the professional and cultural landscape around them.
Since its inception, the London Scholars program has continued to evolve, supporting students as they build strong academic foundations while exploring one of the most vibrant cities in the world. It remains a key pathway for students seeking an innovative and immersive introduction to the Northeastern experience.
